STORYBOARDING
In film, television, animation and interactive multimedia a storyboard artist draws sequential images usually with text and symbols to indicate all the director deems necessary to ensure all departments will be coordinated and share a similar storytelling vision. A storyboard may be used to assist in the writing of a final draft script, or in budgeting the production, or in pitching the idea to prospective investors. On larger projects storyboard artists usually come under the umbrella of a film director's own department, but may also be part of a storyboard department, or an art department, or a VFX department.
In staged events storyboards are sometimes used to help choreograph complex performances such as fights, dances or scenes that involve special effects.
PETER'S PROCESS
Peter draws quickly and understands the language of film making. He usually works with the director but sometimes the writer and DOP are present. Sequences are freehand drawn directly into Storyboard Pro using a Wacom Cinteq tablet. These 1st draft roughs are then cleaned-up to the degree the director requires and loaded as PDF's to an FTP site for review.
